It's back-to-school time! As we wind down from the summer and embrace the start of the new school year, as parents, we want to ensure our children have everything they need for a great start and success throughout. We know that supporting a highly intuitive child as they navigate the school year requires understanding, patience, and compassion, especially as they transition from a relaxed summer break to a structured school schedule.

Below are five ways parents can ensure a positive back-to-school experience.

As parents, you play a crucial role in:

Creating a Safe Space at Home for your highly intuitive children. Highly intuitive children are most comfortable and thrive in environments where they feel emotionally secure. Establish a quiet, cozy space where your child can relax, recharge, and express themselves without judgment. This safe space can be a corner of their room with books, a journal, or art supplies.

Encouraging Open Communication with your highly intuitive child is not just a way to check in about their feelings and experiences at school. It's a powerful tool that builds trust, strengthens your bond, and helps them feel understood. When you actively listen to their thoughts and emotions without interruption, you create a safe space for them to express themselves, fostering a sense of reassurance and connection.

Teaching Your Child Mindfulness Techniques or Breathing Exercises can help them manage overwhelming emotions. It can also empower them to navigate challenging situations and maintain balance in their daily lives. These tools help them foster the Emotional Resilience needed to thrive in the school environment.

Promoting Creative Outlets. Highly intuitive children often excel in creative efforts. Encourage activities like drawing, music, or storytelling to help them process their experiences, release pent-up energy, and express their inner world.

Collaborating with Teachers. You may consider scheduling a meeting with your child’s teachers to discuss their unique abilities and needs. By sharing specific examples of how intuition manifests in your child, such as their empathy, deep thinking, or physical sensations, you can work together on strategies that best support their needs and learning style.

By providing a nurturing environment at home and working closely with your child's teachers, you can ensure your highly intuitive child has a successful and fulfilling new school year.
